What to Know Before Booking a Magician for a Bachelorette or Bachelor Party in Denver

IntroDUCtion

What are the crucial details you need to know before booking a magician for your bachelorette or bachelor party in the Denver area? How much does it cost to hire a magician? How much SHOULD it cost? Are there any red flags to be aware of when in contact with a magician?

These are all questions I am going to answer from my perspective and point of view as a magician with 10+ years of experience in the professional/private sector, so you can be sure your dollars go to the perfect entertainment.

Cost

This is the most asked question I receive when getting phone calls or website inquiries: how much do you cost? While most professional magicians hate quantifying their entertainment into a price, it is crucial because they make a living doing it. There are many unseen hours of practice, planning, and development for each event, so you are not just paying for the magician to show up but rather to plan a star-studded show for you and your friends.

Typically a magician for bachelorette/bachelor parties costs in the range of $500-$750. This may seem steep, but remember that from the second you inquire, their job starts. It is not recommended to hire a magician these days at a price below this range. Someone charging a lower rate will often deliver less, be unresponsive, and not have the motivation to truly plan a unique evening.

Red Flags

We discussed price above, and a low price can be an indication that the magician is not committed to the excellence that someone charging a higher rate is. That is number one.

The second red flag to look out for is a magician with little proof of actual bookings. They will have a low amount of Google reviews, photos from one event, or even worse, a website that only talks about them, their magic, and what they can do. A quality magician understands that as much as they are important, your people and event matter more. Someone who is committed to the astonishment of your guests and clearly shows it is better than someone bragging about their awards.

One of the largest red flags I have noticed is magicians who claim to be the best magician in their area. No matter how many awards, proof, or video they have, a magician who blindly calls themselves the best is simply searching to rank higher on Google. Being a fantastic entertainer is not about self-proclamation but rather about clearly showcasing what other people say about them, where their magic has landed them, and who trusts that their show is something they will recommend to others and hire again.

The last red flag is typically awareness. Is the magician aware of your situation and open to understanding what you need, or do they have a set show that will only work for an hour and try to sell you the largest package? It simply comes down to why they do what they do. Magic is very lucrative and can often draw people who learn the skill and then learn they can charge immense amounts of cash for unpracticed, and often arrogant, magic. Our job is not to be salesmen but rather to be human beings who understand you want a fantastic magician and provide that with little hassle.

Who Should You Book?

I would love to sit here and tell you I am the right fit for what you’re planning, but that simply may not be the case. The energy I bring may not be your cup of tea, and I am not going to sell you that it is.

My magic has been seen on FOX, ABC, and CBS here in Denver, as well as on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, where I appeared at the young age of 16! Magic has been my passion since I was a child, and I strive to create truly memorable and impossible moments of wonder that go beyond what others do. My magic is truly and confidently unique compared to the working professionals in Colorado. It is a careful blend of comedy, quick tricks, and a personality I have been curating for a while.

Professionally, what I do could be called “Bar Magic,” and its main emphasis is on the people rather than the magic. For example, let’s say we are in the middle of a card routine and you mention a story about your life. We pause the card trick to hear your story and then work it into the routine in some way that is absolutely impromptu. Many magicians stick to a set script or just do the tricks. That’s what’s different. If you are looking for something like that or think it sounds up your alley, click the button below to get in touch.

If you prefer someone more serious, dedicated to creating a beautiful routine and sharing it in your home, there are a few people I typically recommend, and I would be happy to send you a list of the Top 3 other guys in Denver. Still click the button below, and instead of selling my show I will sell you theirs. The intention is to get you the perfect entertainment for your event, and it’s no shocker that what I do just might not fit the bill!

Regardless, if you have read this far, you are most likely serious about booking a magician, and I wish you luck in your endeavors. If you want something banger, give me a call at (720) 582-0699 or send an email to info@liamabnermagic.com.

What are people saying About Abner’s Performances?

“Hire Liam and make your next event magical!

We hired Liam Abner for a backyard reception in Tucson Arizona. He was amazing!

Pre-Event Experience: We met with Liam about 2-3 times to go over logistics and event flow. He was extremely detailed and prepared every time we spoke. We left every meeting feeling confident in his abilities to gather a mixed and diverse crowd.

Payment: We paid half the quote to secure his contract and the remainder on the day of the event.

Event Experience: The party was held in our private residence, 44 guests (ages 3-80) and every single person loved this unexpected entertainment! Liam did 1:1 magic during cocktail hour followed by a 20min show during dessert. The final act had everyone up from their seats… it was spectacular!

No one is too old for a little magic! 🪄

Thank you Liam for truly making the night magical! 🪄”
